Fall Fashion Week: the Milan shows

I was so inspired by Milan's fashion week this year! I will post lots more from Milan in the coming days, but in the meantime, I thought I'd post some fun photos from backstage at the Gianfranco Ferré show. Great, no? Oh & get excited, 'cause after Milan...it's Paris! Oui, oui!

Urban Outfitters does mid-century mod...

...and I like it. The Mid-Century Sofa (Pistachio) is a favorite of mine. And it's affordable ($480), which I love. See more of Urban Outfitters' vintage-inspired collection here.

Leifsdottir

Have you heard of Anthropologie's sister company, Leifsdottir? Beautiful separates & dresses just in time for spring. Designer, Johanna Uurasjarvi: "the Leifsdottir customer is hip, optimistic, curious, and cultured. She is a modern woman, who wants to look pretty and polished, while showing off her personality." I like that.

A building made of books

This structure, made exclusively of books, is am-a-zing, no? See more images of Book Cell by Slovakian artist Matej Kren, & read more about this stunning work, here.

Fall Fashion Week: the Prada show

I was quite taken by the Milan shows. Way more impressed with them than the London shows. Oh, & Prada. Wow. Miuccia Prada described the show as a collection of "classics." But I argue it was classic with a spunky twist. Just look at the color/shine of those shoes, & the ruffles on the front of that dress. I love.

Fall Fashion Week: Burberry bundles up

On to the next 1, indeed. Seems like London Fashion Week just started, but it's on to Milan. Still, thought I'd share some highlights from the Burberry Prorsum show. And since I know that some of you are weathering another snow storm, I thought I'd post some of my favorite photos of the collection's fabulous outerwear. Stylish & cozy. Love that.

Temperley's Big, Beautiful Belts

I was obsessed with the statement necklace (hello! & remember me?), but when I stumbled on these fabulous Temperley belts while perusing NAP this morning I became a fast fan of the statement belt. And that bottom 1? I want it. Times a thousand!

A [Local] Match Made in Heaven

Stunning images, no? This shoot was styled by local event designer Elissa Keno & photographed by local photographer Kellie Kano. Keno's own wedding & work has been featured in various publications (including the knot) & her darling blog, Annabelle Lane features sunny, inspired tablescapes on a regular basis. And I'm fast becoming a Kano fan, too. View more images from the shoot here.

Fall Fashion Week: on to the next one

The NY shows are over BUT London Fashion Week is on. The standout show for me so far? Erdem. Love the combo of ladylike details (think ruffles & scallops) & separates/accessories (think puffy sleeves & skinny belts) with hip/fresh prints, architectural shapes & funky shoes. I love how the collection is both sweet & edgy. Irresistible, non?

Fall Fashion Week: Kayne is my favorite

I love a Jenni Kayne show! Her collections, including this year's, always end up being my favorites. Basic, sleek & smart. Feminine, but in a non-obvious kind of way. Love. Also interesting: despite how urban the collection looks, it was inspired by Kayne's experiences with her horse, & what her sister wears to the barn. Love that.

Fall Fashion Week: Carolina classic

There are a few NY designers that always deliver. Oscar. Ralph. Kors, etc. Carolina Herrera is definitely 1 of them. What I love about Herrera, though, is that the only thing predictable about her shows is that the clothes are going to be jaw-droppingly beautiful. Her latest collection is no exception. And that floral dress? My heart sings.

Fall Fashion Week: Proenza Schouler's dolls

Ah, the babydoll dress. Love it because it reminds me of early-'90s fashion (in a good way), & it's just so much easier to wear than, like, a dozen separates. I was delighted, then, to see these 3 versions at the Proenza Schouler show. And loving how fresh the addition of mesh around the necklines makes these dresses!

Fall Fashion Week: Milly's statement tights

I've been flirting with the idea of purchasing red tights to wear with my dresses as winter winds down for a while now. Which is why I perked up when I saw these lovely red (& pink! & blue! & green!) statement tights at the Milly show. They are just so fun & happy. Life's so short, why not dress fun & happy on occasion?

Fall Fashion Week: I [will always] heart Vera

Of all the designers I blogged about this week, Vera Wang is the only 1 whose name appears on labels in my closet. There's just something relevant about her work to me. There's always a contemporary, detail-oriented femininity present in the separates. Her fall collection didn't disappoint, either. And the jewelry. Stop my heart!
