Here's the thing...

I've fallen off the wagon, obviously. Truth is this is an extremely busy/transitional time for me & between preparing to move/finishing school/working on this & applying for this, something had to give. Please be patient while I navigate this very busy time. I plan on returning to blogland eventually...all the best!

[Another] look inside Aerin Lauder's homes

ELLE DECOR has a new slideshow up of Aerin Lauder's digs...Lauder in her East Hampton country home:
Her Manhattan dining room:
So it seems like every couple of years Lauder's country home finds its way into the pages of ELLE DECOR, VOGUE, etc. And every year it looks completely different. But, I always love it - so as long as Lauder keeps redecorating & the magazines keep featuring it, I'll keep eating it up! View the complete slideshow here.

dejarnette new orleans

Lately I'm loving necklaces from dejarnette new orleans. Owner Katherine Dejarnette Babin writes on the Web site: "I am now living out my dream…creating one-of-a-kind pieces that I myself would love to wear."

There are so many styles to choose from & each necklace is stunning & interesting. You must check these out!

A Sporty Summer

style.com breaks down some popular summer sports in the recent feature/slideshow, "The Games People Play"

Love it. Not exactly sporty or fit? I'm thinking summer is a great time to get outside & get moving! Find something physical you love to do this summer & keep it up throughout the year!

Style Inspiration: 1 Dress, 4 Seasons: Fall!

Continuing this week's posts on how 1 great dress can be worn season-to-season by simply changing out accessories, here is my look for fall. Wear the dress as a tunic then layer on other pieces. Almost any cocktail dress can go casual by adding booties, a jacket & leggings. Check back tomorrow to see this dress transformed for winter!

A fresher bun

Love these fresh takes on the bun from Real Simple:
If you know me, then you know I wear my hair in a bun about 90% of the time. While I would love to say I do so only because I'm that impossibly chic, truth is running as much as I do wreaks havoc on my hair, plus I tend to get ready pretty quickly, so the bun works for me. Was thrilled, then, to see an entire slideshow dedicated to simple hairstyles, like these buns.

Now that's a party!

Considering how astoundingly beautiful floral designer Ariella Chezar's work is, it's no wonder her 30th birthday party looked just magical/perfect (image above). Draw inspiration for your next party/view more images from Chezar's party here.

Style Inspiration: 1 Dress, 4 Seasons: Summer!

Thought I would dedicate this week's style inspiration posts to showing how 1 great dress can be worn season-to-season by simply changing out accessories. The dress: a fabulous Antik Batik silk mini. For summer I thought some pretty aqua accents would make it light & fresh. Check back tomorrow to see this dress transformed for fall!

Sunday Read: "Good Practice for a Tough Fatherhood" by Douglas Brown

This Modern Love essay is appropriate for Father's Day. It is slightly heartbreaking but so very tender & sweet. Oh, & if you don't read Modern Love essays from The New York Times, you must start!

Read this essay here.

All Aflutter

Welcome back to another Weekends are for Weddings!
Butterflies = huge in weddings right now - so these darling, delicate seating cards from TimelessPaper's Etsy shop, totally caught my eye. I like the way it looks like butterflies just casually landed on all the glasses. I think these would be perfect for summer dinner parties, not just weddings!

Oh, prefer the DIY route? Check out some butterfly wedding projects here (on Martha's site).

...and smell the roses

I can't think of a more beautiful setting for a pretty wedding than a rose garden. What's more? Most cities have them & they are usually controlled by city parks & recreation departments with very reasonable rental fees. I like the way brown & champagne anchor this look. As always, view all my inspiration boards here.

Have a charming Friday!

Speaking of charming...
...I was totally charmed when I found Sharon Montrose Photographs on Etsy. Actually, charmed is not the word. Blown away is more like it. I love photography, but this might be my favorite find yet. Her work is so simple/minimal but so very very very stunning! Buy her incredible photographs here.

Purple + Yellow (for your home)

Two of my favorite colors...don't they work beautifully together?

When I saw this gorgeous home on two ellie earlier this week, I knew I had to repost & find more images - because these rooms are just that perfect!

Narciso Classics

So, Narciso Rodriguez didn't win this week. But, because I adore his work (he's my favorite designer, & that is big considering how much I love design), I decided to put together some of my favorite Narciso Rodriguez designs to celebrate his work (click to enlarge):

Savannah's The Paris Market & Brocante

After stumbling on these images of Savannah's The Paris Market & Brocante (via Curious Expeditions) I decided I need to get to Savannah, Georgia, like, immediately. Um, this is the kind of place I would have to tour alone. Because I would stay there for hours. Until then, thanks to blogland, I can drool over these images.

Ties [that don't suck] for dad

In honor of Father's Day I thought I would post these great tie finds from Cyberoptix Tie Lab:

Made in downtown Detroit, Cyberoptix Tie Lab offers customers "ties that don't suck" (via their Etsy shop). There are TONS of options...they've thought of everything (& every dad).

Shop Cyberoptix Tie Lab here.

Prop shop is latest recession victim

Hollywood's 20th Century Props is closing. The New York Times story about the closing is so terribly sad. Here are some cool images from their coverage, though:

Harper's Mr. Mom Spread

Speaking of working girls, I love Harper's recent Mr.Mom-ish feature:

Pencil skirts = to die for. If only I had the height for them! View the complete slideshow, "Mr. Big Gets Downsized" (which includes Chris Noth) here. Sort of a refreshing tongue-in-cheek commentary on the recession, non?

Continuing this week's what to wear to work theme, here's my version of the power suit. If this outfit could speak I think it would have a simple message: "Bring it!"

Bonnaroo Dresses

Ah, it's that time of year again: music fest time! A myriad of crimes against fashion are always committed...& I love it. I found these photographs from style.com's Bonnaroo coverage refreshing, though.

Love a dress for this time of year & I love seeing how other women choose to accessorize them! View the complete slideshow (including some delightfully hilarious outfits) here.
